GROWING A RESILIENT FOOD SYSTEM
OASIS stands for ‘Organic Agro-ecological Sustainable Integrated System.’ It is an ecological food system model for urban high-rise neighbourhoods that holistically integrates the full food cycle from production to procurement, processing, distribution, waste management, and land regeneration.
OASIS is run by and for the community, through the democratically and resident-majority owned St. James Town Community Co-op It aims to provide education, employment, enterprise support, and above all, food and water to residents and surrounding communities. The OASIS Food Hub becomes self-sustaining within 5 years of operation, and contributes to the restoration of healthy human-nature ecosystems.
