The St. James Town Community Co-op, LIFT, and many community members have done a lot of work to establish OASIS as a legitimate and feasible system for creating a sustainable food system in St. James Town. The process of designing OASIS began back in 2006 and has incorporated extensive community input and engagement – you can read more about the history of OASIS here. However, we have faced barrier after barrier in establishing the FoodHub.
With the added challenges presented by the pandemic in St. James Town, a long-term food security Hub is needed now more than ever. Come out to learn more about OASIS, and how YOU can help to establish it in St. James Town. We hope to see you there!
The Workshop will be led by Josephine Grey: a long term resident and human rights educator, a founding Director of OASIS food hub project, the St. James Town Community Cooperative, LIFT Toronto, and Food Share, and a UN observer on sustainable social development for Canada. We are very lucky to have Josephine leading this workshop and supporting St. James Town in the many ways that she does.
